Deniz Kılınç
When I started university, I was interested in situations involving vulnerability, ugliness and human weakness. From there, I began to think about human error in art, the role of mistakes in the painting process, and how time relates to all of these. I believe that humans constantly live in contradiction, and I try to reveal this contradiction through my clumsiness and the opposite act of making figurative paintings. In my subject matter, I use ordinary images from my daily life. In terms of form and emotion, my paintings are influenced by genres of Extreme Metal music. Although it’s loud and tense, I find that there is much nuance and confort in Metal. In my work, I try to capture calmness, subtlety, and simplicity through as much noise as possible.
