Ayça Buğlagil
I try to transfer my observations from daily life onto a two-dimensional surface by considering the fundamental principles of painting such as light and shadow, color, and texture. I aim to depict spaces associated with concepts of introversion and loneliness by reducing their chroma and contrast. By portraying everyday human-related spaces devoid of human presence, I seek to create an isolated and silent atmosphere. My goal is to present a slice of life in a humble tone by focusing on mundane, ordinary spaces that carry memory and lived experiences. I approach my works as visual diaries reflecting both myself and the society I live in. Adopting a traditional approach that emphasizes technique, I aim to explore the possibilities offered by paint and the two-dimensional surface.
